Training
There are some fundamental beliefs of the training and development of the Marshall Gates Foundation program. Marshalls players are regularly getting drafted in professional baseball and the college bound players are routinely playing immediately and competing for starting spots for some of the best college programs in the country.
Competition
The Marshalls play around 80 games during the summer. The level of competition vs opponents is very good, also, the level of competition within the team will push players to reach levels that will help prepare them for college or professional baseball. We play virtually everyday of the summer!
Playing Series
The Marshalls play a lot of series with other great summer 18U & College programs. Series play is crucial to development. As everyone knows in college and professional baseball series are played. Teams get a chance to work against your strengths as the series goes on. If an opposing team is constantly working to your weaknesses, the natural progression is that you will start to figure it out and work to get better. That philosophy is opposed to tournament play, where you may see one good team out of 5 games and you only play them once or twice etc…. This has proven to be very effective as Marshalls players head to college consistently earn starting spots and Freshman All American honors.
Position Development
Each player is coached and trained for their specific positions by the coaching staff and other position instructors that are brought in to enhance the overall knowledge and depth of the program
Strength & Conditioning / Nutrition
A program that has been put in place by Jeremy Berg. A former AAA pitcher and certified trainer by the NCCPT. Players will continue to push towards their fitness and strength goals while doing all the necessary regements to keep their bodies healthy.
Sports Psychology / Mental Conditioning
Zach Sorenson of Phenom Sports has developed a program tailored specific to the Marshalls baseball and training schedule. He played for the Cleveland Indians. He has a great perspective and knowledge as a former player that made it to the highest level of baseball. He knows and understands what players are going through and can help make a huge difference in their approach to the game. His knowledge and advice will stay with the players well beyond the summer they spend with the Marshalls
Community Service / Life Experience Coaching etc..
The Marshalls participate in various community service efforts. A chance for players to give back a little and gain some perspective outside of the field. Also, at various times throughout the summer we bring in various people to speak with the players on life, being a good person that people want to be around, our society, the dangers of drugs etc…
-Someday, whether its two years from now or 20 years from now, they will be told they can’t play baseball anymore – we want to help them be prepared for that as well-
